Gretchen Deuble

Digital Photography

Gretchen began making images at the age of ten  when she had an ear ache and wasn’t allowed to go swimming.  Her father’s friend  showed her how to operate his newly acquired Polaroid and provided many packets of film. That day she knew it would be a life long passion.  She earned her BA degree from Hillsdale College and a M.Ed. From Kent State University.  She came to Texas as a VISTA Volunteer and  continued her first career in casework and counseling .Throughout her case work career, she continued making and providing images for various projects.  Being a people person, she enjoys portraiture in natural settings and travel related fine art photography.  She also enjoys historical/archival  photography and is a member of the Bastrop Historical Society. She  studied photography at The Maine Photographic Workshops with Sharon Fox and Carson Graves and has attended many seminars and intensive workshops.  She was awarded 1st Place-International Lights in The Lighthouse Digest’s 2001 Competition.  She is a fourth generation photographer who resides happily in Bastrop with her three Shetland Sheepdogs.
