Rosanne “Rosie” Floyd enjoys a variety of mediums, including pen & inks, acrylics, charcoal, pastels, watercolors, calligraphy, tole painting, and pyrography. Interested in photography as well, she has recently become involved in photographic computer enhancements. Recently re-married, she enjoyes joint artistic projects with musician husband, Dave Floyd.
Her paintings, renderings, and photographs can be seen throughout the Bastrop-Austin area. Rosie has exhibited at the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce, Bastrop Public Library, First State Bank, Lost Pines Bank, Holiday Inn Express, and the McKinney Roughs Nature Park. “The Tractor That Could” is on permanent exhibit at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort in Lost Pines, Bastrop.
Pastel painting “West 6th Street Patio” exhibited in a juried show at the Chase Bank in Austin. The Yorktown Historical Society commissioned the pastel “Taking a Nap” for the Society’s annual fundraiser. The photograph, “Too Close”, was contributed for auction in “The Line of Fire” Fine Art Auction and Gala for the Bastrop Fire Department. Rosie’s cross-hatch pen and ink, “Mother Owl and Babies”, and acrylic painting on blue milk can, “Mountain Scene”, each won first place in the Jester Center Amateur Art Exhibit at the University of Texas.
Rosie has taught Beginning Italic Calligraphy night classes for the Bastrop ISD Community Education program. She has penned numerous birth and retirement certificates, marriage licenses, adult and children's bibles, and special occasion items.
While growing up, her family encouraged her from an early age in her artwork, whether in the literary, musical or graphic medium. Her parents frequently published her illustrations, feature articles and poems in the family-owned newspaper. Family history books were embellished with Rosie’s pen & ink drawings. After high school, Rosie went on to pursue an art degree. She graduated from Texas State Technical College in Waco, Texas, with an Associate in Applied Arts Degree in Commercial Art and Advertising.
Rosie thanks her loving husband, son, and extended family for their continued support in her artistic interests.
Husband Dave enjoys photography and multi media projects. He is a great guitarist and currently plays in a classic rock n roll band “Riverstone”. You can listen to him play with the band at their website www.riverstoneband.com |
