Karol Rice is a native Texan, born in Pampa and raised in Odessa. Although she has formally studied photography only since 1991, her interest has been present since early childhood. Karol's work is predominately color photography in which Karol hopes to incorporate the strength, spirit and character of her pioneer ancestors with the geography, architecture and culture of Texas. Karol has extended the spirit and passion of her Texas work to other projects in New Mexico, Washington, D.C., New England, and Mexico.
In 2005, Ms.Rice was commissioned by Woodbine Development Corporation to photograph the wildflowers of Central Texas and a collection of her images can be seen in the Primrose Path hallway and Firewheel Restaurant in the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa just outside Bastrop, Texas. She has exhibited throughout Texas and her works can be found in several corporate and private collections.
Ms. Rice lives in Bastrop, Texas with her husband, Victor Gonzalez. Since 1984, they have owned and operated a government affairs consulting firm, Poltechs, Inc., in Austin, Texas. In addition to her fine art photography, Ms. Rice also acts as a freelance photographer for The Bastrop Advertiser and other area newspapers.
